Talize is a growing thrift retailer seeking an intermediate to advanced MS SQL BI Database Analyst. The ideal candidate will support insights driven from analyzing consumer and retail information and will develop actionable insights from a variety of different data sources, including enterprise datasets, and industry standard datasets.
As a MS SQL BI Database Analyst, you will work on end-to-end data processes, including database structuring, ETL, validation, maintenance, and analysis for massive raw datasets to provide internal departments strategic insights into pricing optimization, forecasting models and to support inhouse software solutions, leveraging tools like MS SQL, OLAP Cubes, SSIS packages, Excel, Python or R.
Explore new sources of data representation to uncover new opportunities at all levels of the business (strategic to operational) Analyze data from SQL databases to drive optimization and improvement of marketing techniques and customer behavior Develop business models to express raw analytical data for enterprise user’s consumption Interpret data and tell stories by drawing insights from data analysis Support the development and maintenance of internal databases. Identify and resolve data quality issues in conjunction with the client Participate in ad hoc requests internally as required
Work with Microsoft SQL 2017 + R or Python in a full enterprise environment Develop stored procedures and monitor their performance Clean and validate data from various sources Write queries on ad-hoc request Conduct research and data analysis on a day-to-day basis Document scripts and processes clearly Participate in other ad-hoc duties as requested Design, develop and manage, ETL procedures to integrate data from various data sources BI development using SSIS, SSAS, SQL + R or Python, Excel, PowerBI Perform accurate multi variable and single store market sales forecasts in order to enable the organization to correctly predict store sales, size of stores and fill market gaps. Review third party API documentation to determine the feasibility of implementing different types of integrations Employ ETL tools like Altova Mapforce and Flowforce to convert flat files to xml and improve efficiency, testing, and accuracy of data integration Aid in the development of store and customer profiles, regional market comparisons, service levels, sales and product trends.

- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics, Physics, or equivalent experience 3-5 years of analytical and database expertise within a marketing organization Advanced knowledge of SQL is a must and Microsoft Office skills including (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
- Knowledgeable in database and data warehouse-modeling Experience in writing complex, efficient T-SQL queries involving multiple tables, joins, sub queries etc. Experience with SSIS, SSAS (Multidimensional or Tabular), OLAP Cubes, R or Python Experience writing MDX or DAX queries Big data experience with Hadoop is an asset Experience with any .NET technologies would be an asset (VB.net, C#, ASP.net)
